Kahoot!

Need a fun way to quiz your students or review for a test?

Check out Kahoot!

Simply go to www.getkahoot.com and create your free online account.  You can then begin creating any questions that you want to ask your class.  You can make a whole review game out of it or make a short little quiz.  In order for students to play along, they simply go to kahoot.it and enter the game pin code into their phone.  This connects them to the game.  The faster students answer the more points they can score.  It tells them what place they are in after each question.  I am looking forward to using this next year with some of my review games.  Here is a quick tutorial:

Remind--Send Out Instant Reminders

Ever have students come to school the next day and say, "Oh no! I forgot to do my homework!"
Ever have parents say, "Does my child ever have homework to do? They never have any."

REMIND IS YOUR SOLUTION!

I am looking forward to testing out the Remind app this year with my students and parents. All you need to do is download the Remind app on your cell phone.  You set up your class account and all your students and parents have to do is text a number and they will be set up to receive your reminders each day.  You can schedule nightly homework reminders at 7:00 so you no longer have to hear that dreaded excuse! I am so excited to put this app to the test. Here is a quick tutorial explaining Remind  little more.

Plicker-Immediate Feedback

Have you ever heard of Plickers? If not, you need to take a look at how awesome they are. All  you need is:

Forget about using exit cards and having to go through and check them all to see how well students understood the lesson. Last year our technology coaches introduced us to these neat little cards that provide us with immediate formative assessment. Plus the kids absolutely love using them!

Use Plickers for quick checks for understanding to know whether your students are understanding big concepts and mastering key skills. Here is a quick video that shows how to use them.
